I was visiting at my mom’s church last Sunday ( a traditional church with liturgical services). After the communion time, I had a few moments to journal as the pianist was playing. I was observing those attending and noticed they were older, probably less accepting of change. I sensed they had a strong commitment to God and to lead a solid life – Devoted people with good character doing their best to do all God wants. I am used to a different crowd in my church, so I was about to make some judgements. How did God see these people? So what if they didn’t go to my church and share my same theology? My journal entry read “Lord, open my eyes to how you want me to see people.” The next moment I heard the song leader sing “Open my eyes, Lord help me to see your ways, Lord.” WOW! God just reflected my thoughts back to me in a traditional church where I didn’t believe he was active the same way I perceived him in my venue.
God always surprises me with good things. He connected with me to say, in effect “Dan, I am answering your prayer. I am moving in the hearts of these people, but in ways you my not be aware of”. “I am moving deep in their hearts and I know how to communicate to each person in their own way.”
How about you? How does God speak uniquely to you? Do you notice that He is always communicating with you, his “kid”. He is a relationship-based Father. God knows how to “speak” to you in your unique language. He WILL show you that he cares for you, knows you intimately, and is very fond of you. Just ask and expect Him to show you that He is real. He will.
